Red shrine buildings and a torii gate beside the water in Japan

Japan · Through my lens

Leave room for another side of Japan.

A red shrine meets the water, with mountains beyond. From coastal temples to volcanic trails, Japan rewards a route that makes space for both its cultural landmarks and its quieter landscapes.

Journey ideas

Ways to shape
your journey.

01 · Culture and coast

Start with what draws you in

Choose the cities, shrines and historic places you really want to see. Between them, leave time to walk through neighbourhoods, eat well and stay a little longer.

02 · Mountains and open space

Look beyond the cities

Add volcanic landscapes and days on foot. The right region depends on the season, how comfortable you are on the trail and how much moving around you want.

These ideas are a starting point. We choose the route, stays and experiences around what interests you about Japan.

What to expect

What the days
can look like.

01

You do not need to see everything

Fewer bases give you time to settle in, explore the surrounding area and enjoy Japan without constantly packing a bag.

02

Small details shape the day

Train times, luggage and the location of your hotel all matter. We plan them together so the journey feels easy once you are there.

03

Your version of Japan

It might be design, history, food, nature or a little of everything. That is where the route begins, not with a standard list of sights.

Planning questions

Before you
decide.

When is the best time to visit Japan?
Spring, around late March and April, and autumn, around October and November, are the most popular seasons and the busiest. Summer is hot and humid in the cities but good for the mountains, and winter brings snow to Hokkaido and the Japanese Alps.
How long should a first trip to Japan be?
Many first journeys run around 10 to 14 days, which leaves time for a few cities and at least one region outside them without rushing. Longer stays let you go deeper rather than wider.
How do you get around Japan?
Trains are fast and reliable, and the Shinkansen links most major cities. Luggage can be sent ahead between hotels, so you can travel light on travel days.
How does planning with STARS & ROADS work?
You tell us your dates, interests, budget and preferred pace, and Reem replies personally. We confirm the scope and fee before any work begins, then build a route with places to stay and experiences around you. You can choose the itinerary design on its own, or ask us to handle the bookings as well.
